Opus Mariae, Matris Ecclesiae

christ-priest

Opus Mariae, Matris Esslesiae, the name of the new prayer apostolate for priests, was officially inaugurated at 5:50. p.m. on the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, August 15, 2009 at Assumption Grotto Catholic Church in Detroit. With Reverend Eduard Perrone officiating, and Mr. Joe Maher, President of Opus Bono Sacerdottii, and Founder, Lauren Betts, witnessing and kneeling in prayer during the ceremony.

The Mission of Opus Mariae, Matris Ecclesia:

Welcome to our new apostolate for women, “Work of Mary, Mother of the Church,”“Opus Mariae, Matris ecclesiae.” With our prayers and sacrifices, this apostolate seeks to help individual priests who are the most troubled, tempted, discouraged and suffering in their personal lives and priestly ministry. Our desire is to model Our Lady, who as we are told, went in haste to help someone in need.

Inseparably linked to Christ and intimately associated with the life of the faithful, we clearly see Our Lady’s maternal love for her Son’s Church. Scripture shows us that this maternal union was commissioned at the foot of the cross, “Woman, behold your son." Then saying to His disciple, "Behold, your mother." Therefore, she is not only the Mother of our Redeemer, but the Mother of the faithful, the Mother of the Church.

As our spiritual mother, may she guide our hearts to be sensitive to the needs of our consecrated brothers, her sons, for she is the “Mother of salvation, life and grace, mother of the saved and mother of the living,” She says to them, “You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.”
