J. Michael CarriganJ. Michael Carrigan – President / CEO of Sacred Spaces, Inc., was born in Atchison, Kansas and was educated by the Benedictines of St. Benedict’s Abbey . After receiving his BFA from Benedictine College, he continued his studies at the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. He began his professional career designing exhibitions of both folk and fine art for the Hallmark corporation. After three years, Michael was recruited by the Smithsonian Institution, where, for 37 years, he held a number of executive positions, including: Director of Exhibitions and Public Spaces Design for the National Museum of American History -- Exhibits Officer for the Library of Congress -- and Director of Exhibition, Design and Production for the National Portrait Gallery. Michael is considered an expert in the fields of restoration, renovation, and public space design. In April, 2004, Michael retired from the Smithsonian to pursue his interest in liturgical design on a full-time basis. Gathering a select group of designers, artists, and craftspeople from across the globe, Michael formed Sacred Spaces Liturgical Design Inc. to help fulfill your liturgical design needs. |
